Video Searching on the Web.

Google, Blinx.tv,Yahoo!, AltaVista, Singingfish, Dogpile and other search engines are now indexing video. Without a doubt, this innovation is going to be popular, especially with the new generation of video iPods inundating the marketplace.

Important: According to Google, a “preliminary review of videos for pornography or obscene material[s]” is conducted and they will also “respond to any user reports of pornographic material appearing” in their video index files. Yahoo!, AltaVista, Blinx.tv, and Singingfish all mention filtering your searches in order to avoid retrieving obscene videos. Dogpile provides a word of warning before allowing one to conduct a video search. Furthermore, many videos may be protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights.
